Getting ready to offer Bead Crochet kits, threads & notions for sale

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

As you can probably tell, on the right side of this site I have some pictures and kits for bead crochet. I am in the process of adding items for sale for all levels of bead crochet – kits, threads, crochet needles, and various notions I’ve found indispensible for the serious bead crochet person.
I am in the late stretch of applying to teach at Bead & Button 2010 and Bead Fest Portland – due 7/31 & 8/1 respectively, as many others are, and will get everything situated correctly soon.
Thank you for your patience.

Saturday Class – Memory Cuff SUCCESS! Sue Wade at Griffith Art Show

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

It’s been too long between posts -

We had the Memory Cuff class today – a good time and both Mel and Sue finished their black cuff bracelets – yiippeee!!  It was nice to visit with the ladies, and Mary – the Fused Glass queen at the Artisian’s Workshop - was immensely entertaining as always!

Visit Sue Wade tomorrow at the Art Show in Griffith, at Central Park on Broad St.  Sue is selling her one of a kind fine jewelry such as her copper & glass etched pieces.  Beautiful stuff and this is a true art show – lots of good stuff for everyone.

Sam & Chris at Gettysburg, PA

Sam & Chris at Gettysburg, PA

A last minute trip with only 2 of our 3 kids (oldest child in band activities all weekend) so we took the camper to Gettysburg, PA.  Beautiful mountains in PA I was QUITE surprised to find.  So were the brakes on the camper, as we followed Rt. 30 over a mountain ridge with a 10% incline, courtesy of Mapquest’s directions.  It was an adventure those last 25 or so miles, especially with the brakes starting to smoke before it was over!  An adventure, too as we got home on Monday morning at 7 am, just in time for me to get a shower and go to work!

Gettysburg was a re-inactor’s dream, with the reinactment of the Battle of Gettysburg going on for 3 days and thousands of people dressed in period costumes, as solders and families in the 1860’s.  All taking on the persona of the person they dressed like… a little creapy at times as strangers came up to you and began describing their personal history during the war years.  This was not my thing (hubbys) but we all learned alot, the town was quaint and the National Historical Register Civil War architecture amazing.  We toured the National Park’s Service Monument Park and you really get a sense of how the battle took place and the 23,000+ people that lost their lives in 3 days.

I had hoped to have time to do some beading, which I did a little bit on the way out to PA, but it was so bumpy that my little beadies kept spilling, so it was pretty futile.  I did finish a class example of a crochet bracelet, as it was easy to do when the beads are prestrung!

I have been looking forward to driving out to teach at BeadFest in Philadelphia in August, but I am rethinking it for the first time, as I got the heebee-jeebee’s in the mountains on the way home.  I kept thinking about freezing up at the wheel when I need my wits to be sharp.  I really don’t want to fly with all that silver/gold I have to take for my Keshi Pearl Cuff class.  Plus, I love to drive with a good book on tape and time to think.

working on 2010 class submissions to national shows

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I’ve been working on submissions to teach at Bead & Button 2010, BeadFests 2010 & possibly Pugent Sound Bead Festival.  I have some class projects that are mostly done and some that I am experimenting on.  I want to have new bead crochet classes to offer as well as right angle weave & embellishing, wire weaving and possibly spiral rope combination.  I’ll post pictures as soon as I can.
