Welcome to my new website. It is still under construction as I’m sure you can tell! I’m also new at blogging and my friend Steve at http://go2graphics.com has been so helpful, guiding me through what to do with my site, how to set up the blogging thing, and in general how to set things up properly so that I can start communicating with fellow beaders.
I wanted to let you know I am teaching bead crochet classes (all levels), beadwork and wire weaving classes locally, beginning in March, at Sue Wade’s Artisan’s Workshop, located at 112 W. Main St., Griffith IN – 219-743-2353 (website: http://www.wadestoneandglassworks.com). Sue just opened up her new shop and welcomes everyone to take classes, shop for supplies and in general come in and do your “thing” at her shop. Her shop is unique in that it’s her work area as well as her shop, and the focal point of her establishment is her large community table that welcomes everyone to just sit down and talk, do your projects, ask each other questions, and enjoy your time with others who share “your obsession…” (ya’ll know who you are). I’m very excited about not only teaching, which I’ve done a little in a classroom setting through community college, but FINALLY getting a website going and reaching out to the bead community.
A little history…
I’ve been beading since 2001, mostly as a way to relax. I started out stringing, then went on to wireworking, then onto bead crochet and bead weaving. I don’t do too much stringing now, but I like to create beadweaving, bead crochet and wireweaving jewelry. Common to so many beaders, I’ve sold some things and for awhile thought I wanted to just create and sell my stuff. I did a small show at our local art center and at a clothing gallery that sold my pieces, and enjoyed meeting people. Isn’t that what usually drives us into teaching, enjoying being with people?
So, after much procrastination on my part, I am going to forge ahead and begin my teaching and designing career… a second career as I still work full time. I hope to do this full time at some point but everyone needs to start somewhere, don’t they? Oh, yes, a website is in the works, too as it seems everyone who wants to communicate needs a website.
